Johanna North
Finland
Приєднався 29 гру 2017
Hi, I'm Johanna from the faraway Nordic country of Finland, but six years ago I embarked on an adventure of a lifetime and moved to India for love. Now, I live in a small village in Kerala with my husband and our little daughter Annika. Here we are finding joy in simple, slow and quiet family life and exploring each other’s cultures and countries.
I started this UA-cam journey to collect and record the endless stream of memories of our life. In words, and images. So that's what you'll find here - stories of life, family, food and travels from India. Our real life, nothing too epic, really.

We're leaving Kerala - an emotional goodbye to our Indian dream life
We moved to Kerala towards the end of 2019 right after our marriage. It was going to be the first house we would be living together as a married couple. Soon after we moved to our house in a small village in the north of Kerala, the lockdown happened. This meant that we got to spend some quality time together and create a lot of memories. And not just memories, we also welcomed our daughter Annika into this world in our idyllic surroundings. It was therefore quite sad to leave all this behind and move to a much bigger city like Mumbai. All the memories from our life came flooding and it was a very emotional goodbye for us all...

A Christmas vlog from Kerala - Annika loved her gifts!
Переглядів 12 тис.Місяць тому
It's never too late to post a Christmas video - even if it's almost June! So, last Christmas was a special one for us as Annika was finally of an age where she understood what the festival meant and also helped me in decorations and cooking. It was also our last week in Kerala, so it was quite bitter sweet. Annika was super excited for the whole of December and couldn't wait for opening her gif...
Goa beyond beaches - We fell in love with the villages of Moira and Olaulim
Переглядів 36 тис.2 місяці тому
After being disappointed with the beaches in north Goa, we wanted to spend some quiet time in the interiors. So we headed to our next destination - an AirBnB cottage in the village of Moira. The week we spent there was the best we'd had so far in Goa. We not only explored the village but also Assagao, Mapusa and spent a day at the historic sites of Old Goa too. My mother wasn't feeling too well...
GOA is still her favourite holiday destination - Our family vacation at Palolem & Candolim beaches
Переглядів 33 тис.3 місяці тому
My mom came to visit us from Finland for a couple of months in the end of 2023. After spending time with us at our home in Kerala, we decided to take her on a road trip to Goa. Annika has always loved our numerous beach vacations to Goa even as a small baby, so she was pretty excited about it. We spend a few nights in Palolem, where the beach is perfect for children. We also celebrated my mom's...
My family loved this beautiful fort in North Kerala - BEKAL FORT
Переглядів 31 тис.4 місяці тому
While we had my mom visit our home in India, we were really excited to explore Kerala with her. One place we took her to see near our Kannur home was Bekal Fort, which even Vinod and I visited for the very first time after 4 years living in Kerala. I thought we'd see a typical Indian tourist site/fort, with huge crowds, noise, litter and bricks, but Bekal fort was not at all what I expected. It...
Mom from Finland fell in love with Kerala's nature - Holistic Eco Resort, Paithalmala Hill
Переглядів 113 тис.6 місяців тому
This is the first time my mom is visiting us in Kerala from Finland. She had visited India once earlier, but that was a tour of North India. While we were spending most of our time at home, we also wanted to show my mom the natural beauty that Kerala is known for as God's own country. So after spending a few weeks at our house in Payyanur, we decided to drive to a nearby hill resort in Paithalm...
My mom fell in love with our life in INDIA - trying Kerala cuisine for the first time
Переглядів 359 тис.7 місяців тому
In October, my mom arrived in India for her second trip here and we were finally able to welcome her into our home in a small Kerala town of Payyanur. While we were excited to show my mom all the incredibly beautiful nature surrounding our home in the jungle and of course have her also see just see our home and the lovely life I as a Finnish foreigner have been able to make for myself in India,...
Grandma from Finland visits us in Kerala - big surprises and gifts for Annika!
Переглядів 571 тис.7 місяців тому
After saying goodbye to her grandparents from Jaipur, Annika was all ready to welcome another grandparent coming all the way from Finland. My mother, or 'mummi' to Annika, arrived to Mangalore airport one morning in early October. Mummi didn't know what that Annika and I were also coming along with Vinod to the airport to receive her. So it was a pleasant surprise for her when she saw her grand...
Kerala monsoon & Annika’s grandparents - our Finnish Indian family
Переглядів 77 тис.8 місяців тому
Monsoon season in Kerala is the most beautiful time of the year, and maybe in all of India, and we get to enjoy some particularly spectacular views from our house facing the Arabian Sea. So we were happy to return home from our long travels in Jaipur and Mumbai to enjoy all of this. Even though for me that meant that I also had to roll up my sleeves for a huge monsoon cleaning project to get ri...

@12:50 : She made the first step into the Malayali culture,...... 😍🥰
Each country has its own rules and worse still each government official has his own interpretation of the law. When y brother wanted to marry a German lady, he faced similar problems in malaysia . One official wanted the German lady to produce a no objection letter from German authorities. The German embassy said why should we object or don’t object? We don’t issue such silly certificates. Lucky another official in another state in Malaysia said there’s no such requirements and they got married.
Beautiful Family
I am sorry for the late reply....welcome Back to Tamilnadu also
Escaped thank you atleast you guys escaped please help me also
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I had the same outfit that Johanna wore in the first part of the video, both in color and model. I wore it out. I bought it from Mudo. Isn't it surprising that someone living in Istanbul and someone in Kerala, India, have the same dress? Vinod helps his father by eating. 😆Pakora resembles "mucver" in our Turkish culture. We usually make it with zucchini, but it can also be made with spinach: We add baking powder, grated onion, feta cheese, eggs, chopped parsley, dill and flour. By the way, not everyone uses baking powder. Instead of flour, I sometimes use bread crumbs. I blend one or two slices of stale bread and use it instead of flour. The beach is magnificent.
Maybe it's better to go back to Europe.
ক্যারালা সরকারি হাসপাতাল এর নাম কি আমি বাংলাদেশ থেকে বলছি। আমার বাচ্চা হয়না এজন্যই আমি ক্যারালার সরকারি হাসপাতালে আসতে চাই।

So pretty your sister 💖
Too much of turmeric can result in acidity ... so, you need to be careful about proportion. Also, to get a better cooking of dal, soak it in water for fifteen minutes before you put in the cooker.
As a east asian i found indians more attractive than westerns
I really like your videos. For me it seems to have some kind of calm vibe, nature, life in general. I am from Kerala and interested to see Mumbai from your vlogs. Everywhere I believe there is good and bad and maybe the intensities differ. May God bless 👍🏻.

Sad but yet wonderful experience ahead for you and annika and Vinod . So you are in Finland now when you left Kerala it was like sooo sad as if we lived there with you and you are leaving us all. That's gonna be another challenge for you and baby. Mumbai is chaotic and not that hygienic, it also depends on where you live. Good luck to your family.
